Why we don't rebuild aWix store 1:1 onShopify

In short

Many requests for a Shopify migration come with one wish: “Exactly like now, just on Shopify.” We advise against it. If you rebuild the old store page by page, you take its weaknesses with you and waste the best opportunity to rethink the customer journey.

The request

A food brand with a subscription business wanted to move from Wix to Shopify. A first Shopify draft already existed. The brand world was there, but the page structure followed the old Wix store almost one to one: little room for origin and taste, the subscription as an afterthought, product pages without real reasons to buy.

What we recommend instead

1. Choose the theme for the content, not for its similarity to the old store. A brand that lives on origin and taste needs a theme that can tell stories, not just show products.
2. Product pages that sell. Origin, taste, preparation and the people behind it belong on the product page, not hidden away on an About us page.
3. Plan the subscription from the start. Not as a checkbox on the product, but with its own page that explains why it's worth it.
4. Build trust and repeat purchases into the structure. Reviews, email automations and a clear store structure belong in the plan, not in the fixes afterward.

That's more than a platform switch. But it's the moment when it costs the least extra.
