Reliable and functional, but not our first choice for regular chat. When Tidio pays off and how it relates to Shopify Inbox and Lyro.
Durstladen
Tidio is a reliable chat platform, but not our first choice for regular chat. For conversations between customer and team we prefer Shopify Inbox, for automatic answers the AI agent Lyro. Lyro, however, runs inside Tidio. So Tidio mainly pays off if you want to use Lyro, or if you need chat, email and social media messages in one inbox.
Tidio works, setup is straightforward, and we had no outages in our projects. Still, we don't recommend the app as a default. For pure live chat, Shopify Inbox has the advantage that customer, cart and order sit right in Shopify, and it's free.
Tidio becomes interesting when more comes into play: the AI agent Lyro, requests across several channels, or simple flows in the chat, such as a question about order status.
If you just want live chat for pre-purchase questions, Shopify Inbox is enough. If your team works with tickets, returns and many channels, a helpdesk like Gorgias is stronger. How many apps a store really needs is covered in our App Diet.
What's the difference between Tidio and Lyro? Tidio is the chat platform, Lyro is the AI agent inside it.
Why do you recommend Shopify Inbox instead of Tidio? For regular chat, because Inbox is free and shows customer, cart and order right in Shopify.
Is there a free version? Yes, with a limited number of conversations per month.
Will you set up Tidio for us? Yes, usually together with Lyro, including a chat window in your brand's design. If you first want to know which apps your store really needs, our Audit is the fastest route.
