The product page is where the buying decision happens. Customers can't touch the product, so the page has to replace everything a good salesperson would do in a store: show, explain, clear up doubts. Five things make the difference, and none of them needs a redesign.
The five things
1. Images that answer questions
Not just the product on a white background, but in use, next to something for scale, up close. A short video often says more than five photos. And on mobile, the first image has to show what it is within a second.
2. Everything important above the buy button
Price, variants, delivery time, shipping costs. If people have to scroll to find out when it'll arrive, they often scroll on to the competition.
3. Copy that sells
Not the manufacturer's text, but three or four sentences on why this product. Then the facts as a short list: material, dimensions, care. Put long details in collapsible sections so the page stays clean.
4. Proof
Reviews with photos, the number of happy customers, press quotes, seals. For an unknown brand, this matters more than any description. More on that in part 7.
5. Clear up doubts
Size chart, return policy, contact. A short FAQ block with the three questions your customer service gets most often. Every answered question is one less reason to leave.
FAQ
How long should a product description be? As long as necessary, as short as possible. Three or four sentences at the top for everyone, details below for those who want to know more.
Do I need videos for every product? No. They pay off most for bestsellers and products that need explaining. A phone video is often enough.
Can I improve this for all products at once? Yes, via the theme. Delivery time, shipping info, size chart and FAQ go into the product template as blocks and apply to all products. You manage the content via metafields.
Do you do this? Yes. We optimize the product template with native Shopify features and proven apps, without touching the purchase flow.
