A brand wanted to move from Wix to Shopify and, at the same time, improve product presentation, landing pages, guide content and visibility. Instead of a single offer, we priced two paths: a complete package for a direct rebuild, or an audit first and then building blocks as needed. Both make sense, just for different starting points.
The request
The brand sells a product that needs explaining. The wish list was long: new store, custom product templates, customer data migration, a guides section, better visibility on Google and in AI search. Not all of it was equally urgent, and for some items it was unclear how much work they really meant.
The two paths compared
| Direct rebuild | Audit first, then building blocks | |
|---|---|---|
| Fits when | Clear goal, tight timeline, content ready | Unclear where the biggest levers are |
| What you get | Complete package: store, templates, customer migration, SEO and AI search | Diagnosis with priorities, then step-by-step implementation |
| Price | One fixed price for everything | Audit at a flat rate, then a fixed price per building block |
| Risk | Low, if assumptions are clearly documented | Low, because nothing is built on a hunch |
| Speed | Faster to a finished store | Faster to first results |
Important in both cases: we clearly separate what counts as its own work package. Customer migration, product templates, guides section and SEO migration are four different tasks, not one. That keeps a relaunch from turning into an open-ended hourly project.
And a fixed price only works if the offer states what it's based on. Which content the client delivers, how many templates, how many rounds of revisions. What isn't in there isn't included.
Your takeaways
- There's no single right path. If you know exactly what you want, the complete package saves you time. If you're unsure, the audit saves you money.
- Ask to see both paths. An agency that offers only one option is deciding for you.
- Look for work packages. An offer that lumps everything into one line can't be compared or scoped.
- Read the assumptions. A fixed price is only as good as what's documented as its basis.
Not sure whether to build right away or check first? We'll openly price both paths for you.
