Judge.me: OurRecommendation forProduct Reviews

In short

Judge.me is our standard app for product reviews. We use it in almost every store, B2C or B2B, large or small. The reason is simple: the free version covers most shops completely, setup is quick and day-to-day moderation is painless. Only for luxury brands would we reach for a different solution.

Our verdict: Recommended

Reviews belong on every product page. Shopify doesn't ship anything for that itself, so you need an app. Judge.me solves it without a monthly fee: after the purchase an email goes out automatically, the customer leaves a review, the review appears on the product page. Almost all of our clients use the free plan.

We've had no problems so far with setup, theme or support. Compared with Loox and other review apps, Judge.me was simply easier for us to work with.

What Judge.me does better

• Free and unlimited. Unlimited reviews, including photos and videos, on the free plan.
• Reviews come in by themselves. The review request goes out automatically by email after purchase. Reminder emails and further features are in the paid "Awesome" plan.
• Migration without losses. When switching from another shop system, we bring the old reviews along via CSV import. Moving from other review apps is covered too.

What to watch out for

• Design. The widgets look tidy, but not particularly refined. For most stores that's fine. If a premium look matters to you, check it in your own theme first.
• Google stars. Judge.me can output reviews as structured data for Google. We haven't used that in our projects so far. If you want the stars in search results, make sure your theme doesn't output them twice.

When you don't need Judge.me

For luxury brands we don't recommend Judge.me. There, every detail of the presentation counts, and Klaviyo Reviews looks more premium, but costs extra. How many apps a store really needs is in our App Diet.

FAQ

Is the free plan enough? For most stores, yes. Reviews, photos, videos and the automatic post-purchase request are included.

Can I bring over reviews from my old shop? Yes, via CSV import. That's how we've done it on migrations from WooCommerce and Shopware.

Does Judge.me work for B2B? Yes. We use Judge.me in B2C and B2B stores, the setup is the same.
