EU Widerruf Pro is our recommendation for the electronic withdrawal button that online shops selling to consumers in the EU have had to offer since 19 June 2026. The app adds the button, a form and a confirmation email to the customer. For most stores the free version is enough. Our clients use the app mainly because it's mandatory, and it serves exactly that purpose with no effort.

Our verdict: Recommended

With EU Directive 2023/2673, online shops selling to consumers must make withdrawal possible with a click. Shopify handles withdrawals through the new customer accounts, but the customer has to log in for that. EU Widerruf Pro additionally offers a public page without login: the customer finds the button, fills in a short form and receives a confirmation. You get a notification and see all withdrawals in one overview.

In our projects the app ran without problems. So far the free version has been enough for every client.

What EU Widerruf Pro does better

• Everything required, for free. Button, form, confirmation email to the customer and notification to you are all included in the free version.
• Individual items. Customers can also withdraw from just part of their order.
• Quick to install. The app is set up in no time and fits into the theme.

What to watch out for

• Adjust your legal texts. The button alone isn't enough. Your withdrawal policy and terms have to match. Have that checked by your legal advisor or legal-text provider.
• Paid extras. The paid plans add, among other things, an address check in the checkout and withdrawal reasons. You don't need them to meet the obligation.
• App name in the store. In the Shopify App Store the app is now called "Address Check & Withdrawal Pro", because the address check was added.

When you don't need EU Widerruf Pro

A pure B2B store isn't affected by the obligation, it only applies to contracts with consumers. If you sell to business customers only, you don't need the app. Whether the obligation applies to your store is best clarified with your legal advisor. Which other apps are worth it is in our App Diet.
